Culturally responsive care in physiotherapy pain management for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

AHPRA-registered physiotherapists who work with clients with persistent pain (pain lasting longer than three months) are invited to take part in an anonymous survey exploring cultural responsiveness in physiotherapy practice.

The aim is to better understand physiotherapists’ knowledge, attitudes and actions when working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background populations presenting with pain. The survey also seeks to identify what forms of cultural adaptations or support systems are currently in place within your work setting. Your input will provide valuable information that can help inform resources to assist physiotherapists to provide culturally responsive care in Australia. This study is using a snowball recruitment approach. Please share this invitation with your colleagues who may be eligible to participate.

Please refer to the full information sheet after completing the initial screening. This is the link to complete the initial screening survey. The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes and your responses will remain completely anonymous.

Taking part in this research is voluntary. Your decision not to participate in this study will not affect your relationship with La Trobe University.

The research is being conducted by Sam Parkes (PhD student), under the supervision of Dr Casey Peiris (La Trobe University), Professor Clarice Tang (Victoria University) and Dr Bernadette Brady (Western Sydney University).
